    Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation

    Seán holds a Diploma, an Advanced Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Postgraduate Diploma in Spiritual Guidance through Transpersonal Dreamwork, from The Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education in London (CCPE).  He also holds a certificate in Bereavement Counselling from Cruse Bereavement Care.

    He is a fully accredited member of United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). He is committed to continuous professional development, reads widely and attends regular training, workshops and supervision.

    Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach

    Seán works from a pluralistic and integrative approach which includes: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, Person-centred, Existential and Transpersonal, according to client needs. He believes that all therapeutic approaches offer useful insights into how to help people therapeutically, and aims for an approach that is flexible and suited to the needs of each individual client.

    He works with clients to develope a good therapeutic relationship, based on openness and trust which respects values, personal resources and self-determination.  A transpersonal perspective aims to integrate the psysical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of the client’s wellbeing.  It includes the exploration and focus of the client’s potential and the development of inner resources and creativity.

    Guided by appropriateness and client needs. Seán also uses artwork, bibliotherapy, sand tray, creative imagination, dreamwork, chair work and relaxation exercises to enhance the therapeutic experience.

    Counselling Experience and Area of Interest

    Seán has a background in teaching, financial planning and as volunteer co-ordinator for a charity.

    He has experience and interest in multicultural counselling.  This involves an understanding, sensitivity and appreciation of the history, values and experience of minority groups, and recognises differences between the counsellor and the client.

    He has been working with clients in London,  since 2007. This includes eighteen months bereavement counselling with Cruse Bereavement Care, nine years in NHS Surgeries and ten years with private clients.

    Seán has experience of working with a wide range of presenting issues including: bereavement, anxiety, depression, loss, relationship difficulties, social unease, low self esteem, transitions, career changes, bullying, sexual abuse, body image and intimacy.

    He practices meditation and believes in the mind-body-spirit connection.

    Seán’s fee is €70 per 50 minute session
