Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation
Kathleen trained as a Counsellor in Trinity College Dublin and qualified in 2001. She has done a number of training courses and diplomas, including a diploma in Couple Counselling and Supervision. She has trained in a number of different approaches over the years including Psychodynamic, Systems, CBT, Contemporary Gestalt (GATLA) and EMDR.
She is committed to ongoing professional development and has done training in Trauma and PTSD, Attachment, Mindfulness, Surviving Childhood Sexual Abuse, Sexual Addiction, Domestic Abuse, CBT with Couples, Working with Teenagers Experiencing Separation. Professional and Legal Training. She is currently training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
Kathleen is an accredited psychotherapist with the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) since 2003 and is an accredited supervisor (IACP) since 2009.
Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Kathleen works as a supervisor, she works with individual clients and couples, describing her approach as Integrative drawing on number of different approaches to suit the individual client and their needs.
She provides a safe and confidential space to build trust and facilitate change.
Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
Kathleen has over 20 years of experience as a relationship/couple counsellor and 18 years as a psychotherapist. She was employed by a Couple Counselling Agency from 2000-2013 and was a clinical supervisor there for 5 years, before she moved into private practice. In this role she provided individual and group supervision both internally and externally.
She has been a group supervisor on post graduate counselling and psychotherapy training in Dublin City University (DCU). She has also been involved in training and running support groups.
Other areas of her expertise include anxiety depression, OCD, bereavement and loss, work related stress, relationship issues, fertility issues, domestic abuse and unresolved childhood issues.
