Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation
Brenda trained as a Rebirthing Breath-work Therapist with the International LRT (Loving Relationships Training) founded by Bob Mandel and Sondra Ray. She is an accredited healer with the Annwn Institute where she trained under Dr Ruth Doherty and has also trained extensively in body centred therapies which she integrates into her clinical practice.
In 2005, Brenda trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (levels 1 and 2) for the treatment of trauma, both physical and developmental. She is a firm believer in lifelong learning and continuous development. She is currently undertaking advanced training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy with the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute.
Brenda is also a workshop facilitator, trainer and founding member of the Rebirthing Psychotherapy Association. She attends regular supervision as part of her ethical commitment to her work and abides by the code of ethics outlined by IAHIP.
Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Brenda’s gentle holistic approach works particularly well with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, bullying, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), chronic pain and the trauma that can result from invasive medical procedures such as surgery and chemotherapy.
Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
Brenda has been working in full-time private practice since 1989. She has worked extensively with new mothers around the area of attachment and bonding. She also has particular interest in working with life changes and transitions, psychological recovery from serious illness, bereavement and the challenges of caring for loved ones when they can no longer care for themselves.
Brenda would usually hold an initial consultation of approximately one hour to assess a client’s requirements and their suitability to undergo breath-work therapy.
€70 for an hour session
€120 for a Rebirthing Psychotherapy session which takes two hours
