Stephen has worked as a counsellor and psychotherapist since 2001. He trained in Counselling and Psychotherapy at Tivoli Institute and at Trinity College Dublin. He then completed 2 further years of post-graduate training with the Dublin Gestalt Centre and has a Diploma in Gestalt Therapy. Stephen has also done extensive further training in many areas including Group Facilitation, couple counselling, sex and sexuality, working with gay, lesbian and sexual minority clients, and clinical supervision.
He works with a wide range of issues that can arise for individuals both within the workplace and in personal life. Many of these issues can lead to feelings of stress, anxiety, depression, panic, low self-esteem, confusion, relationship difficulties, or negative behavioural and thought patterns. Stephen works closely with individuals at a deep level to help explore and understand the issues underlying these feelings. He is particularly interested in working on issues around relationships, self-esteem, sexuality, gay and lesbian sexuality, and in existential issues such as living a more meaningful life, having more meaningful relationships with others, and engaging with existential issues such as loneliness, anxiety, and meaning and purpose of life. He also works with couples and with therapy groups.
Stephen is originally a Business Studies and Human Resources graduate and has a background of over 12 years experience in personnel management. In addition to his work as a therapist in private practice, Stephen also works as a course tutor with the National University of Ireland at Maynooth and as group therapist and group supervisor at Tivoli Institute and as group therapist on the PhD in Counselling Psychology at Trinity College Dublin. He also works as supervisor to other counsellors and psychotherapists. He runs a number of workshops annually around Sex and Sexuality, and Understanding Gay and Lesbian Sexuality.
Stephen is an accredited counsellor and supervisor with the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and is available for individual supervision to counsellors, psychotherapists in both IACP and IAHIP and therapists working in related professions.
The fee per session for an individual is €70.
