Frances holds an Honours Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Her training encompassed a variety of different therapy modalities including Humanistic, Psychodynamic, Existential, CBT and Body-work.

Post Graduate training includes the following:

Certificate in ‘Issues of Sexual Violence: The Counselling Process’ with The Dublin Rape Crisis Centre.

Certificate in ‘Somatic Trauma Therapy’ with Babette Rothschild, the internationally renowned trauma therapist, trainer and author. Rothschild has published a number of books on the treatment of trauma, including ‘The Body Remembers’ and ‘Eight Keys to Safe Trauma Recovery’.

 Frances spent a number of years working with a community counselling service in South Dublin and has experience dealing with a wide range of problems including anxiety, depression, panic attacks, bereavement and the resulting difficulties associated with physical and sexual abuse in childhood. She uses a mindfulness based approach in her work which is increasingly being shown to aid recovery and prevent relapse in depression.

Frances’ special area of interest is trauma and has experience working with post-traumatic stress. Her training and experience allow her to work in an integrative way with clients tailoring the therapy to suit individual client needs.

Frances is a fully accredited member of both the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP).
